It looks like Facebook’s efforts to assuage users fears on private data protection did not do too well with U.S. authorities as the company now faces scrutiny by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee….

CEO Mark Zuckerberg told the world on Monday that Facebook’s “drastically simplified” privacy settings would roll out in the weeks to come and here they are. Zuckerberg presented them at a press conference, just two days after his op-ed in the Washington Post and some of the changes are already in place….

The privacy issue ghost haunting online companies is once more back to the forefront of the news today as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged in an op-ed in the Washington Post, that his company “just missed the mark” on its privacy settings and pledged to implement changes “as soon as possible”….

In the slew of privacy issues floating around, there’s also the case of the White House reprimanding its Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Andrew McLaughlin, for ethics violations, as reported first by PR NewsWire. For the record, McLaughlin is a former Google lobbyist….

After acknowledging it has been snooping and collecting private data through its Street View cars, it has been brought to our attention that Google is now facing a class action lawsuit in Washington state and Oregon for privacy violation….

The state of video sharing in Italy is now in jeopardy….
