According to a study by Netpop Research, users of YouTube are more likely to recommend that site than users of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media websites are likely to recommend those sites….

“LinkedIn Corporation announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of its Class A common stock,” Linkedin’s blog reported. Linkedin has 90 million users and is a social networking site for professionals to share their resumes and other work related information….

LinkedIn updated their iPhone app this week. Here’s a visual tour of what to expect. The homepage features icons that enable users to easily navigate the app: One of the coolest things you can do is find people near you on LinkedIn. Just make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. About a year ago, LinkedIn launched a new search platform, which has turned out to be wildly successful. Search activity has doubled since the update. Of course, their membership has almost doubled as well. No word on whether the chicken or the egg came first on that one. Either way, LinkedIn is improving their search platform with the addition of filters. The filter options are automatically generated and are placed down the left side of the results. You can now update your status on LinkedIn and Twitter simultaneously. To do this, sign on to LinkedIn. Then, go to your home page and under the Inbox, look the status update box under “Network Updates.” See the Twitter icon next to the “Share” submit button? Click that if you want to enable simultaneous updating. When you do, a pop up box will ask you to authorize your Twitter account and then will give you options on updating Twitter from LinkedIn. This morning, LinkedIn reached the milestone of 50 million members. CEO Jeff Weiner says that about 50% of the users are from the U.S. and the other half from the rest of the world. Weiner also noted an interesting fact about LinkedIn’s growth. When LinkedIn launched in 2003, it took 477 days — almost a year and four months — to reach our first million members. This last million took only 12 days. Contributing to that momentum is India, which currently has the fastest growth of any country represented on LinkedIn.
