Google Buys Local/Mobile Startup TalkBin

Google has acquired five-month-old startup TalkBin, a local business feedback platform, the company announced on its website. TalkBin describes itself on its website as “a way for your business to deliver a better customer experience by letting customers use their mobile phones to communicate to your business in real time.”

TalkBin was founded in December by Qasar Younis, Michael Ma, and Sunny Dhillon. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

TechCrunch reports that this is mainly a talent acquisition, although “it also apparently sees potential in the product too — Google will be shutting down TalkBin temporarily, but it plans to reopen the service to new businesses down the line.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome the TalkBin team to Google,” Google said in a statement. “They’ve built a cool way for customers to engage with local businesses, and we think they’ll be a great fit for our mobile and local teams.”

Wonder if Google will be putting the team to work on getting Google Offers up and running?
